Which versions can share progress?

Dawnwalker’s launch announcement confirms Xbox Play Anywhere. Microsoft’s rules cover a qualifying digital Xbox / Windows Store copy, the same account and progress between supported Xbox and Windows devices. Before you move from Xbox to Windows PC

1. Check the store receipt and Play Anywhere badge.
2. Use the same Microsoft account on both devices.
3. Install the Xbox / Windows version covered by that entitlement.
4. Check that the expected progress is present before continuing on the new device.

Treat these as ownership and verification checks, not instructions to delete or overwrite saves. For the store choices, use Xbox access and PC storefronts.

Steam Cloud: resolve sync errors first

Steam Support advises addressing an “unable to sync” error before launching. In a conflict, compare timestamps with when and where you actually played; do not blindly select a file. Offline sessions can lead to conflicts after reconnecting. Steam Support: Cloud synchronization and conflicts.

Cross-save is different from crossplay

Progress synchronization does not create a shared multiplayer campaign. Use the crossplay guide for the game-mode question. If you need a Steam-to-PS5 transfer, get an explicit supported procedure before paying for the destination copy; this guide does not invent save-folder paths or conversion tools.
